The A.S.D. “Shorin-Ryu Karate-Do Torino” is already well-established over time as a significant reference and qualifications in martial arts and social gathering place, very present and visible throughout the municipality. It has participated in national and regional tournaments, with very positive results; amply paid by the consent of the students.

The A.S.D. “Shorin-Ryu Karate-Do Torino”, recognized by C.O.N.I., was born in February 1993 by a group of colleagues of job and pratictioners of Karate. The operating Association in the Vanchiglia District, in the historical center of Turin, has started its work near the gymnasium of the Saint Julie’s Oratory and the Communal Arena Guastalla. Currently, the arenas where the activities of Karate and Kobudo are carried out, are kept near the following structures:

The students of the association are mostly boys/girls in the neighborhood and the schools of the District VII°. All students participate with great enthusiasm, even for the youngest, at events sponsored by AICS –Sport Promotion Board at which our association is affiliated-. While practicing the traditional Okinawan Karate, we don’t give up “for taken party” the competitions; indeed, as it says our Sensei, the races are a good experience for a karateka; but the true one karate is for all the life.
 

NEWS-ITEM OF THE PRESIDENT

Beloveds sportsmanly friends.

Already from many years it train in our arena true traditional Karate-Do, handed with carefulness on little faithful students of the ancient okinawan school. In fact, also currently, the school of the Ryukyu islands, in the continuation of the own philosophical tradition, carries out one strict selection between the more deserving students in the extencion of such philosophy. Well-known, already from some years our association interacts with the age young people, above all stimulating such activities to the feminine user that,  for our experiences, grasps “at par” (or beyond) such cultures not sure easy to learn.

The art of Karate-Do, as well as the art of the flowers (Ka-Do), the art of the handwriting (Sho-Do), etc., reached from India and China and it was settled down perfecting to Okinawa (Ryukyu islands – Southern Japan).

The Karate SHORINRYU KYUDOKAN, as far back as the remoter times, has enclosed in itself mysterious technicals not really “humanly visible”, of chinese derivation, imported from Shaolin’s Monastery (Tai-Ch’ì-Chuan, Kun-Be, etc.). In spite of the karate ones is unfortunately nowadays incorrect-over-all-mind to altering the purest and ancient art,  our school continuous to conserve the same principles of a time, thanking above all the Okinawa Higa’s School, wich is officially recognized by the Japanese Government of the Ryukyu.  

The SHORINRYU, as far back as the remoter japanese feudalism, has the more inner and explicit meant one than “constant sacrifice of just the body (given sacrifice is from the type of carried out in physical training, also by the repetition to the infinite of the techniques of defense and martial combat waves to create the automatism) to the aim to catch up in the time an own stability of control both physical level and psychologica”. In fact in the KYUDOKAN, the Karate-Do gives the standard of  the physical  and moral defence like absolute priority of the justice, but above all to make oneself acquainted broadly speaking; standard the truth and the transparency, for same himself and the others; standard humility and the goodness, without never to submit itself.  All that is in synthesis Karate ”KYUDOKAN”: which means the “way” to develope and to know one’s own character so as to render it self-conscious of its abilities.

The SHORINRYU KYUDOKAN, devout to the ancient martial traditions, completes the entire philosophy with the instructions of Kobudo:

·        Bo (it was the stick to carry on the shoulders loaded with varied kind);

·        Sai (steel weapon similar to a dagger, but not supply of blad and with a special hilt from which two particular snouts leaves; originally Sai was conceived in order to remove the fish from the nets and to put them in the hampers);

·        Nunchaku (it is a traditional arm, diffused in some Asia Orient’s country, made up from two short sticks joined by one short chain or rope); sansetsukon (a folding stick with three sections, which China’s name is: san-chieh-kun, from Shaolin Temple); 

·        Tonfa (it was a tool peasant used for the working of the grain. From this arm it today derives the english cudgel in equipment near the police forces in several comprised countries the those western ones));

·        Kama (scythe for the harvesting of the rice and the sugar cane);

·        Kasuri Kama (it is the kama with the chain);

·        Eku Bo or Kai (a paddle used from the fishermen);

·        Tekko (a knuckle duster);

·        Nunte (it is a sort of Sai; anciently it came attacked up to the Bo and used like harpoon for the peach);

·        Kuwa (Hoe; in China is “chutou”).-

Our school is directed by Sensei Oscar Higa – 9^th Dan Hanshi Karate/Kobudo – World-Wide Technical Manager. Hi is the special directed envoy one of the uncle Yuchoku, the Supreme Sensei, recently death.

The aforesaid disciplines, introduces to all indifferently people for stimulate and for encourage our world-wide cultural to trasforming positively the human relationships, have the attempt to teach the “plain truth” in every student; truth who is however inborn and that she must be searched to outside of every ritualism and/or conventionality.

During the year the Association programs some meetings between friends, relatives, sympathizers, with times dedicated to stages, competitions sport, films-slides showing, excursions, sports party, amusing evening party, and so on.

The proposals above-mentioned, become ulteriorly integrated from the transmitted tourist-cultural activities by a great contribution of the our regional technical direction, officially given a degree to in matter of “tourism intercultural travels”. In fact, from many years, our association systematically joins to the association Viaggi Nel Mondo (Italian Adventures Association), whose editor is Mrs. Christine Angela (daughter of the famous Piero Angela), also publicizing through the inherent reviews the real experiences lived of  “screw all over the world”, you reveal yourselves above all most useful for the scholastic researches.

Nearby our school you will find friendship, unaffected simplicity, organization, but above all persistence in  SHORINRYU KYUDOKAN, than standard the “study

of the way for himself and for the others” and this way is MUGEN, which means that “for ever”.
